The Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area(LGA), Dr Chibueze Ofobuike has hosted a thrilling 2025 Christmas carol and praise extravaganza to the admiration of all.
The colourful event which drew thousands of people to the LGA Secretariat was organized to praise God for keeping Aguata people alive to see the end of the year.
Dr Ofobuike said that they gathered to praise God and to share brotherly love among one another.
“Despite the hardships of 2025, we have prevailed and so we are here to give praises to the Almighty God and to also share love, brotherhood and charity.”
The Mayor also announced that 15 finalists of the 2025 Aguata Best Student Challenge had returned from a life-changing tour of Cape Town, South Africa.
The winner of the challenge, Miss Mmesomachukwu Promise Dimewelum received from the Mayor a scholarship of N500,000, a brand new laptop and a year long billboard feature across Aguata.
Dr Ofobuike highlighted some of his recent achievements in the LGA to include the construction of blocks of classrooms, libraries and markets.
Others are the renovation of primary health centres, resource centres and the secretariat complex. And, the “Push A Kid”, an initiative which supplied new school uniforms, desks, shoes and bags to every public-primary pupil in Aguata.
In a gesture of compassion and spirit of Christmas, he presented 500 widows ( Five hundred) across the LGA with essential item packages and N10,000 each.
Dignitaries that graced the occasion included public servants, spiritual leaders and the Aguata traditional rulers.
Schools and choirs of different denominations were also present.
Popular gospel artists- Gozie Okeke, Ada Zion, Pay Osina, Sonwa and Amara delivered uplifting performances.
