Anambra West Local Government Area has taken delivery of two 500KVA electricity transformers donated by the Anambra State Government to Iyiora and Umueze Anam communities in a move aimed at improving power supply and boosting socio-economic activities in the area.
The transformers were officially received on January 10, 2026 on behalf of the local government by its Chairman, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor, who expressed appreciation to the state government for its continued support and commitment to grassroots development.
According to him, the intervention will significantly address long-standing challenges of inadequate power supply in affected communities, enhance small-scale businesses, and improve the overall quality of life of residents.
Hon. Nnazor represented by his Deputy, Hon. Mrs. Nkeiru Ndive commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for prioritizing infrastructure development across the state, particularly in rural areas, noting that access to stable electricity remains a critical driver of economic growth and security.
She described the provision of the transformer as a major boost to the two communities, noting that it would significantly improve electricity supply, enhance economic activities, and improve social services, including education and healthcare delivery.
Mrs Ndive assured Ndi Anambra West that necessary steps would be taken to ensure the prompt installation and proper utilization of the transformers, while also calling on community members to safeguard the facilities against vandalism.
She further noted that the transformers are expected to energize small and medium-scale businesses, support artisans, boost agro-processing activities, and generally improve living standards in both communities of Umueze and Iyiora respectively.
The Anambra West Deputy Mayor further said that the intervention further reinforces public confidence in his administration, noting that Anambra State is on the path to sustainable growth, shared prosperity, and a better future for all.
The donation of the transformers is part of the Anambra State Government’s broader effort to strengthen electricity infrastructure and promote sustainable development across all local government areas.
