I can feel that this is going to stir strong feelings, and I will not pretend otherwise. I’ve walked through the offices, thinking about the hardworking men and women who dedicate their lives to public service. I know many of them will feel disappointed, maybe even frustrated.
But here’s what I felt concerning this decision: responsibility cannot wait. Every naira spent must reflect fairness, efficiency, and sustainability.
We owe it to our people to manage resources wisely, even if it means making hard choices. I feel a deep sense of empathy for everyone affected, but I also feel conviction because leadership is not always about comfort; it’s about doing what is right, even when it’s tough.
I want every civil servant to know that I see their effort, I value their contribution, and this decision is made with the larger picture in mind to ensure that our state continues to function and grow for everyone.
