There was jubilation on January 27, as the Anambra West Local Government administration officially flagged off the construction of the 1.7-kilometre Nzam–Odetomaka Road Project, a significant initiative designed to enhance connectivity and boost socio-economic development in riverine communities within the council area.

The ceremony took place in Nzam and was attended by community leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, and party stakeholders who welcomed the project as a long-awaited solution that would alleviate transportation difficulties and facilitate trade, education, and healthcare access.
During her remarks at the event, the Acting Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Edith Nkeiru Ndive, described the road project as a reflection of the administration’s dedication to grassroots development and inclusive governance.

“This road is a pathway to opportunity, security, and prosperity for our people. We are thankful to His Excellency, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for his faith in Anambra West and for supporting projects that directly benefit our citizens,” Hon. Ndive said.

She emphasized that the project aligns with Governor Soludo’s vision of transforming rural communities into thriving economic centers, reassuring residents that it would be completed to high standards and within the set timeline while promising strict oversight to ensure quality and accountability throughout construction.

Additionally, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, characterized the project as evidence of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to inclusive development across all 21 local government areas in the state.
“This road signifies more than just infrastructure; it serves as a lifeline that will open up economic opportunities, enhance access to healthcare and education, and integrate our riverine communities into Anambra’s broader development agenda,”the Commissioner said.

Other stakeholders present at the event expressed their gratitude for this intervention, highlighting that the Nzam–Odetomaka corridor has posed significant challenges during rainy seasons for years, often isolating communities and obstructing economic activities.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by numerous esteemed guests, including all ward councillors, party ward chairmen, stakeholders, women leaders, traditional rulers, others.
