The Executive Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Hon. Nkeiru Edith Ndive, has called on young people across the council area to embrace developmental politics, remain disciplined, and play active roles in advancing the growth and progress of their communities. The Mayor made the call on June 2, 2026, while receiving a delegation of Umuoba Abegbu Youths who paid her a courtesy visit at the Anambra West Local Government Headquarters in Nzam.
The delegation was led by the President of Umuoba Abegbu Youths, Engr. Peter Okuevune, accompanied by the Vice President, Mr. Chinedu Pius. Also present during the visit were the Councillor representing Umuoba Anam Ward, Hon. Ndubuisi Okonkwo Odili, the National Youth Council Coordinator in Anambra West, Comrade Onyeka Nnachor, and other stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Engr. Okuevune commended Hon. Ndive for her commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance. He assured the Mayor of the readiness of Umuoba Abegbu youths to collaborate with the local government in promoting community development, youth empowerment, and initiatives that would improve the welfare of residents.
In his remarks, Hon. Ndubuisi Okonkwo Odili praised the Mayor for the palliative intervention carried out on the road linking Umuoba Abegbu and Mmiata Anam communities, noting that the route serves as a vital access road for residents and pedestrians. He also appealed for the fencing of the Umuoba Abegbu Health Centre to enhance security around the facility and protect it from activities that could undermine its operations.
Responding, Hon. Ndive commended the youths for their unity, maturity, and constructive engagement with government. She encouraged them to remain focused on initiatives that foster peace, development, and social progress.
The Mayor also lauded the youth-friendly policies of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, noting that his administration has continued to create avenues for young people to participate meaningfully in governance, leadership, and community development. According to her, the increasing presence of youths in public service and decision-making processes reflects the government’s commitment to building a future driven by innovation, inclusiveness, and shared prosperity.
She assured the delegation that their requests would receive the attention they deserve and reiterated her administration’s commitment to maintaining an open-door policy that encourages citizen participation, especially among young people.
As part of the visit, the youth delegation presented the Mayor with a customized portrait, describing it as a token of appreciation for her exemplary leadership and dedication to the development of Anambra West Local Government Area.
