The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has identified one-way driving, illegal parking and unauthorized loading and unloading of passengers as some of the most prevalent traffic offences contributing to congestion and road safety challenges across the state.

The agency highlighted these violations in a recent post on its official Facebook page as part of its ongoing “Jungle Campaign,” an awareness initiative aimed at promoting responsible road use and improving compliance with traffic regulations.

According to ARTMA, one-way driving remains a serious offence that endangers the lives of motorists, passengers and pedestrians, noting that driving against the designated flow of traffic significantly increases the risk of accidents and disrupts the orderly movement of vehicles on major roads.

ARTMA  expressed concern over the growing incidence of illegal parking and road obstruction, particularly in busy commercial centres. Vehicles parked on road shoulders, junctions and other unauthorized locations often impede traffic flow, create bottlenecks and inconvenience other road users.

Another common offence identified by the agency is the loading and unloading of passengers at unauthorized locations. Commercial transport operators who pick up or drop off passengers outside approved parks and bus stops contribute to traffic congestion and expose commuters to avoidable risks.

ARTMA reiterated its commitment to enforcing traffic regulations, urging motorists and commercial drivers to comply with road safety guidelines, emphasizing that adherence to traffic rules is essential for ensuring safer roads, reducing congestion and promoting a more efficient transportation system across Anambra State.

The agency appealed to road users to support ongoing efforts aimed at improving traffic management and maintaining order on the state’s roads.
