Hon. Echezona Anazodo, Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, on Tuesday, 16th June 2026, played host to officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nnewi Unit Command, at the Council Secretariat.

The Mayor commended the FRSC for its sustained efforts in managing traffic within Nnewi, particularly around Nkwo Nnewi, Bank Road, and the Edoji axis. He pledged stronger synergy between the Council and the Corps to ensure a steady flow of vehicles and safer roads for residents.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to “total compliance with traffic laws”, Hon. Anazodo warned commercial drivers, tricycle operators, and traders against indiscriminate parking, street trading on highways, and one-way driving.

“Traffic sanity is non-negotiable if we want Nnewi North to match its status as an industrial hub,” the Mayor said. “We will work with FRSC to enforce the law without fear or favour.”

The Unit Commander, Nnewi Command, ACC Asochukwu, who led the delegation, thanked the Mayor for his support and assured that the Corps would deploy more personnel during peak hours. He appealed to Ndi Nnewi to obey traffic rules, use pedestrian lanes, and avoid overloading.

Both parties agreed to intensify public sensitisation and joint enforcement to reduce gridlock and accidents across the LGA.
