‎The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed as false a security alert circulating on social media alleging that a military helicopter dropped unidentified items in a bush located along the boundary between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu communities in Anaocha Local Government Area.
‎
‎In response to the report on June 25, the command promptly deployed security operatives to the area to verify the claim and assess the situation. Preliminary findings showed that the location remains peaceful, with no suspicious objects or security threats discovered during the operation.
‎
‎According to the Police, normal activities are continuing uninterrupted within and around the area, while security personnel have sustained routine surveillance measures to ensure public safety and maintain confidence in the state’s security framework.
‎
‎The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, called on residents to disregard the unfounded report and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary panic and undermining public confidence in security agencies.
‎
‎He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-driven operations, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders in the collective effort to maintain peace and security across the state.
‎
‎The commissioner further advised members of the public to verify security-related information through official channels and urged them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other security formations.
