‎Business activities across parts of the commercial city of Onitsha were disrupted on June 25 following heavy and persistent rainfall that delayed the start of daily commercial activities and reduced traffic movement.
‎
‎As of 8:00 a.m., many shops and business premises remained closed as residents and traders waited for the rain to subside before commencing their daily activities.
‎
‎Usually busy areas, including Savoy Bus Stop, recorded unusually light vehicular movement during what is typically one of the busiest periods of the day.
‎

‎Traffic along the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway was also noticeably lighter than usual.
‎
‎The Borromeo Hospital axis toward the traffic light near Seaman Filling Station experienced reduced traffic, while roads that are normally bustling w0ith commuters appeared calm as many people adjusted their travel plans due to the downpour.
‎
‎At Seaman Filling Station, commercial tricycle operators and nearby residents sought shelter as the rain intensified.
‎

‎Speaking to journalists in the area, a commercial tricycle operator, Mr. Onyemaechi, said the persistent rainfall had significantly reduced passenger traffic and affected his daily earnings.
‎
‎”The rain has slowed movement across the city. Many people are staying indoors, and there are fewer passengers,” he said.
‎Also speaking, Mr. Monday Nwoye, a motor parts dealer, said he was unable to open his shop at Mgbuka because of the prolonged rainfall.
‎

‎At the time of filing this report, rain was still falling across parts of Onitsha, with thick clouds continuing to hover over the city, raising concerns that commercial activities could remain slow for the rest of the day.
