The outgoing Community Women Leader (CWL) and President-General of the Ojoto Akanasato Women Wing (Inyom Ojoto), Mrs. Anthonia Okonkwo, has urged women in the community to embrace peace, unity and forgiveness as essential values for sustainable development.
Mrs. Okonkwo made the call during the 2026 August Women’s Meeting held on Aug. 1 at the Ojoto Town Hall in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
She encouraged members to continue living in harmony, support one another and preserve the bond of love that unites the association.
The outgoing leader also sought forgiveness from anyone she might have offended in the course of her duties, saying she had equally forgiven those who offended her.
She urged members to give their full support to the incoming administration led by the immediate past Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Engr. Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo, assuring them that the outgoing executive would always be available to offer guidance whenever necessary.
Presenting her farewell address, Mrs. Okonkwo, accompanied by the Vice-President, Mrs. Susanna Ezekwelu, and the General Secretary, Mrs. Ifeoma Agwuncha, highlighted achievements recorded during her tenure, which began in 2022.
She said the administration provided financial support to 12 indigent women, one from each of the 12 villages that make up Ojoto Akanasato, to establish small businesses. It also reviewed and produced the association’s constitution to strengthen its operations.
According to her, the executive visited sick and bedridden members with financial assistance for medical care, purchased and installed two industrial cassava processing and pounding machines for women in Ojoto Uno and Ojoto Oboofia, and ensured the association benefited from available government opportunities.
Mrs. Okonkwo said the association remained debt free as it prepared to hand over to a new executive on Aug. 22, 2026.
