The Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, has described the late Sir Oselloka Offoh, as a man of integrity, exemplary character and uncommon commitment whose contributions to the Diocese on the Niger and society would be difficult to replace.
Bishop Nwokolo made the remarks during the funeral service for Sir Offoh held at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, Oraifte, on Aug. 26 where he reflected on the 63-year life of the deceased and his enduring contributions to the Anglican Communion, particularly in the fields of communication and journalism.
The Bishop described Sir Offoh as a well-grounded media professional who served the diocese as its Diocesan Communicator with dedication, loyalty and a strong sense of responsibility.
According to him, the death of Sir Offoh had created a significant vacuum in the Diocese and the wider society, considering his commitment to service, integrity and the positive impact he made during his lifetime. “He has left a great vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” Bishop Nwokolo said, urging Christians to emulate the virtues and values that characterised the life of the deceased.
The Bishop charged christians to live lives devoid of deceit and uphold values capable of strengthening the church and positively influencing society. He urged the congregation to make their lives a testimony of faith, honesty and integrity, stressing that one of Sir Offoh’s greatest legacies was the exemplary life he lived and the lasting impact of his service to the church and humanity.
Bishop Nwokolo also prayed for the bereaved family, asking God to comfort and strengthen them and grant them the grace to bear the loss. He further encouraged the family to preserve and uphold the values exemplified by their late husband and father, saying that doing so would ensure that his legacy continues to inspire generations to come.
