The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Niger West, Rt. Rev. Johnson N. Ekwe, has charged the 2026 graduating Postulants of St. Paul’s Theological College, Awka, to remain faithful, diligent and courageous in their ministerial calling.

Rv. Ekwe gave the charge on Sept. 4 while presiding over the 28th Eucharistic Commissioning Service and Certificate Awarding Ceremony held at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Awka.

The ceremony, themed “Watchmen for the Church and the Nation,” and drawn from Ezekiel 3:17, brought together clergy, theological educators, families, friends and other well wishers.

In his sermon, the bishop urged the newly commissioned Postulants to appreciate the responsibility that comes with their calling and to uphold integrity and commitment in their service.

He encouraged them to discharge their duties with diligence and courage, noting that the next phase of their ministry would require them to put into practice the knowledge and discipline acquired during their theological formation.

Rv. Ekwe said their training was not limited to academic preparation but was intended to equip them for responsible Christian leadership and service to the Church and society.

The service featured commissioning prayers and the presentation of certificates to members of the graduating class.

The ceremony marked the completion of the Postulants’ formal theological formation and their transition into wider ministerial responsibilities.

The college leadership expressed appreciation for the successful completion of the programme and wished the graduates well as they proceed to their respective areas of service.

The event ended with a charge to the newly commissioned Postulants to remain steadfast in their calling and uphold the responsibilities entrusted to them as ministers.
