The Integral Development Konsult (IDK) University Pathways International Study Centre, Awka, has held its maiden graduation ceremony for two students who completed the one year NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) programme.
The graduands, Ugochukwu Nwokolo and Chidera Ayogu, completed the 2025/2026 programme, which provides a pathway to undergraduate study at universities in countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of IDK Awka Study Centre, Mrs Chinwe Nweke, congratulated the graduands and described them as pioneers of the centre.
Nweke commended the students for their resilience and hard work, while acknowledging their teachers in Nigeria and their international counterparts for maintaining academic standards throughout the programme.
She said Ayogu had secured a visa to study in the UK for three years and would begin lectures on Sept. 21, 2026, while Nwokolo’s visa was being processed ahead of his resumption in Australia in February 2027.
Nweke thanked the parents of the graduands for their support and acknowledged the former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Prof. Solomon Chukwulobelu, for his support to the centre.
Chukwulobelu, who is also the Chief Policy Adviser at the South East Development Commission, congratulated the graduands and their parents, describing their investment in the programme as worthwhile. He encouraged parents to invest in their children’s education.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr Ekene Ogugua, represented by the officer in charge of higher education in the ministry, Ubaka Nweke, also congratulated the graduands and urged parents to prioritise quality education for their children.
The Academic Manager of IDK, Chris Ebe, said the programme required commitment from students, including critical thinking and independent research. He said the certificates presented to the graduands confirmed their completion of the programme and urged them to prepare for the demands of university education.
In their separate remarks, the graduands, Ayogu and Nwokolo, thanked the centre’s management, their parents, teachers and well wishers for supporting them throughout the programme.
The ceremony also featured a Mass presided over by retired Catholic priest, Monsignor Dr Simon Amateze, presentation of certificates to the graduands and cutting of a graduation cake.
