Former Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, and former Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Hon. Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, have inspected the ongoing electrification project in Iyiora Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area.
The inspection, conducted on Sept. 27, was aimed at assessing the progress of the project, which is expected to address the community’s longstanding electricity challenges and improve the living and economic conditions of residents.

The project forms part of the state government’s broader electrification programme under Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, aimed at expanding electricity infrastructure to communities across Anambra, particularly underserved areas.
During the inspection, the former commissioners expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work at the project site. They noted that improved electricity supply would have positive effects on local businesses, education, security and other community activities.

Speaking in different locations, Nwabunwanne and Chukwuemeka commended the state government for extending the electrification initiative to Iyiora Anam, describing it as an important intervention for a community that has experienced prolonged power challenges.
Residents of Iyiora Anam also expressed appreciation for the project, saying that access to electricity would create opportunities for economic activities, support children’s education and enhance security in the community. They further expressed optimism about the completion of the project and commended the ongoing development efforts in the area.
