The Executive Mayor of Anambra West Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Edith Nkeiru Ndive, has spotlighted major infrastructure projects in the Local Government Area(LGA), attributing the progress to the foundation laid by successive APGA administrations and continued development efforts under Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Ndive made the remarks on Oct. 1, 2026, during Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebration and school march past organised by the Anambra West LGAl, commending residents of the area for their resilience, unity and continued contributions to community development.

She said successive APGA administrations had established key infrastructure in Anambra West, particularly in roads, education and healthcare, which she noted had improved access and connectivity among communities and provided a foundation for further development.

Highlighting projects she associated with the present administration, the Mayor cited the Mmiata–Nzam Road, the ultramodern Anambra West Local Government Secretariat at Nzam and the development of the Oroma Etiti General Hospital as notable infrastructure interventions in the council area.

She outlined projects delivered by her administration within Anambra West, including the reconstruction and equipping of the Oroma Etiti Referral Healthcare Centre and Umuonuorah Healthcare Facility, construction of the Nzam–Odeotamaka Road, and provision of five speedboats to strengthen water transportation and security surveillance across riverine communities.

The Independence celebration featured a colourful march-past by primary and secondary school pupils and students from schools across Anambra West, as well as cultural performances celebrating Nigeria’s unity and heritage.

In the primary school category, Hope Rising Primary School, Oroma Etiti Anam, emerged first, followed by Community Primary School, Mmiata Anam, and Community Primary School, Nzam, in second and third positions respectively.

For secondary schools, Community Secondary School, Umueze Anam, took first position, while Community Secondary School, Mmiata Anam, and Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Nzam, placed second and third respectively.

Congratulating the participating schools, Ndive urged the pupils and students to remain disciplined, patriotic and committed to excellence, stressing that the younger generation of Anambra West has an important role to play in the future development of the local government area and Nigeria.
