A Methodist cleric, Rev. Presbyter Anomnachi Ogwo, has urged Nigerians to begin the month of October with prayer and translate their faith into actions that promote cleaner, safer and better communities.
Ogwo, of St. John’s Methodist Church, Odume, Obosi, made the call during the church’s Oct. 1 first-day-of-the-month prayer service, where members committed their lives, families, businesses and activities for the new month into God’s hands.

The cleric described prayer as an essential part of christian life, urging members to remain steadfast in their faith and dedicate time to worship, praise and prayer. Drawing from the biblical account of God’s deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt, he said believers should continue to trust in God’s guidance and protection.
As Nigeria marked its 66th Independence Anniversary on Oct. 1, Ogwo urged citizens to complement their prayers with responsible actions that contribute to the development of their communities, calling on the people of Anambra State to support initiatives aimed at improving the state and encouraged them to support the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
He called on residents to turn out in large numbers for the environmental clean-up exercise scheduled for October 3, urging individuals, families, churches and community groups to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean. He said active community participation is essential to achieving a healthier and more orderly Anambra.
Ogwo further urged members to carry the values of prayer, service and responsibility into their everyday lives, stressing that faith should be reflected not only in worship but also in actions that benefit society.
