The Opi Bridge section along the 3-3 axis of Onitsha North Local Government Area is to be closed to vehicular traffic from Saturday, October 3, 2026, to facilitate reconstruction and renovation works.

The closure is part of ongoing infrastructure intervention along the 3-3 corridor, aimed at improving road connectivity, traffic flow and the general condition of the route.

The affected section of the bridge was inspected by the outgoing Mayor of Onitsha North, who also provided an update on the planned intervention and the temporary traffic restriction.

Residents, motorists, business owners and other road users have been advised to take note of the closure and make adequate arrangements before embarking on journeys through the area.

Motorists are particularly encouraged to use alternative routes during the period of the works to reduce possible traffic congestion and inconvenience around the affected section.

Traffic and construction personnel are expected to be on ground to guide road users and facilitate the smooth execution of the reconstruction and renovation activities.

The intervention is expected to address the condition of the affected bridge section while contributing to the broader improvement of the 3-3 road corridor.

Road users have been urged to cooperate with relevant personnel, obey traffic directions and exercise caution around the construction area throughout the period of the project.

The Anambra State Government continues to prioritize infrastructure development and rehabilitation as part of efforts to improve transportation, connectivity and the overall quality of life across the state.
