Gov. Charles Soludo’s administration is irrevocably committed to extending development to rural areas through the construction of quality roads as a way of enhancing economic growth of the state.
Rural roads are not just transport links, but lifelines that connect traders, farmers, and communities, thereby fostering economic growth and food security.
Mr. Governor’s rural road networks aimed at enhancing connectivity, lowering transportation costs for farmers, and improving access to markets.
Some of these roads are carefully located especially in areas that have not seen a tarred road before; and they included among others-
- Construction of Aguleri Otu-Aguleri Uno road in Anambra East, LGA-Ongoing
- The Construction of Ezira-Umuomaku-Enugwu Umuonyia-Achina Road in Orumba South and Aguata LGA- Completed
- The Construction of Mmiata-Nzam Road in Anambra West LGA- Completed
- The Construction of Ajali-Akpu-Ufuma-Nawfija-Ogbunka Road in Orumba North and Orumba South LGA -Completed
- Rehabilitation/Construction of Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-AwbaOfemili-Umuerum-Omor Road in Awka North LGA- COMPELTED
- Construction of Amansea-Ndiukwuenu-Manu Forest-Awa-Ufuma in Orumba North LGA -Completed
- Construction of Ozubulu-Atani Road in Ekwusigo and Ogbaru LGA-Ongoing
- Construction of Achina-Onne-Ogboji road in Aguata and Orumba South LGA-COMPLETED
- Construction of Umuaguchi Eziama Erosion road Uli in Ihiala LGA-Completed
- Construction of Ifite Ogwari road with a Spur in Ayamelum LGA-Completed
- Construction of roads along Abba Junction – Nawgu – Isuaniocha – Achalla – Ikem Nando road in Dunukofia, Awka North and Anambra East LGA-ONGOING
- The Construction of Isuaniocha-Urum Junction-Achalla Road in Awka North LGA-Completed
- Reconstruction of Pal Junction Oko to Ogboj in Orumba North and South LGA-ONGOING
- Construction of Amesi – Akpo – Ogboji Rd in Aguata and Orumba South LGA -Ongoing
- Construction of the Mbaukwu-Awgbu-Amaetiti-Okpeze-Ndiukwuenu Road with a 22M 1 Span Brigde in Awka South and Orumba North LGA -Ongoing
- Construction of Azigbo – Awka-Etiti – Amichi – Onuselogu Nnewi Road with Spur to Diocesan Hospital Amichi in Idemili South and Nnewi South LGA -Ongoing
As these projects progress across the state, they herald a new era for Anambra State.
Upon completion, these road networks will connect rural dwellers to schools, healthcare centres, and markets.
The ripple effects are already apparent. The ongoing construction of rural roads across the state coupled with erosion control have revitalized community life almost overnight, enabling a return to farming and food production.
Governor Soludo’s administration has consistently prioritized rural development, recognizing its crucial role in shaping the state’s economic landscape and he believes that constructing such standard roads in rural areas is a way of complimenting his administration’s urban renewal drive and making those at the grassroots heave a sigh of relief, enhance rural infrastructure and agricultural development.
