In a significant stride toward enhancing healthcare delivery in Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has made a profound impact with the establishment of the Anambra State Specialist Eye Centre (ASSEC) located in Nise, in Awka South Local Government.
According to Dr. Ifeanyi Obi, the head in charge of the eye care center, the facility was commissioned in March 2023 and has become a beacon of hope for residents struggling with avoidable visual impairment.
The Eye Center is equipped with cutting-edge ophthalmic equipment, providing specialized and affordable eye care services that were previously inaccessible to many. This pioneering health project demonstrates Governor Soludo’s commitment to prioritizing eye health and underscores the importance of vision care in improving quality of life, education, and economic development.
A notable upgrade to the center is the installation of a 30 kVA solar power system, which has ensured uninterrupted service delivery. This strategic investment has resulted in an impressive over 300% increase in hospital visitation and utilization, restoring vision and dignity to countless citizens.
Dr. Obi noted that the success of the Nise Eye Care Center is a testament to Governor Soludo’s people-centered leadership and his administration’s dedication to delivering impactful public health initiatives.
He also noted that the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, has also played a crucial role in driving this initiative forward.
As Anambra State continues to benefit from Governor Soludo’s visionary leadership, residents are celebrating his achievements, including the innovative health infrastructure developed under his administration. The ASSEC stands as a shining example of purposeful governance that prioritizes the well-being of its citizens.
