Workers in Anambra State heaved a sigh of relief as they listened with rapt attention the assurances of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to sustain their welfarist package.
The Nigeria Labour Congress under the leadership of Comrade Humphrey Nwafor gave him an award of “Beacon of Hope ‘ in recognition of his worker friendliness.
In a message to the state work force on this year’s workers day celebration in Awka,Governor Soludo promised to sustain the zeal to always seek for the welfare of workers in the state.
To this end, he announced his resolve to look into the demands of the NLC and the TUC with a view to studying it critically with key stakeholders and making the necessary adjustments subject to the availability of funds.
He approved a piece of land for the state NLC secretariat in Awka with assurances that he will assist the union when the need arises.
Governor Soludo expressed his passion for the state retirees and promised to work towards the upward review of their monthly pensions.
The governor listed some of his reforms in the areas of youth empowerment and other reforms aimed at moving the state to greater heights.
He announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will visit Anambra State next week Thursday on a one day working tour to commission some of the projects his administration has completed.
In his workers day celebration message,the NLC state Chairman, Comrade Humphrey Nwafor commended Governor Soludo for putting smiles on the faces of workers in the state and sought his assistance in approving a piece of land for siting of a new NLC secretariat and the upward review of workers welfare package.
The NLC in conjunction with the TUC gave the governor an award of “Beacon of Hope ‘in recognition of his worker friendliness.
In another message,the State Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Vin Ezeaka (Esq) doubling as the state Chairman of the Solution Vanguard felicitated with the state work force for giving their best. He used the forum to pay glowing tribute to Governor Soludo for putting smiles on the faces of workers in the state.
On her part,the Provozt Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, Dr.Justina Anyadiegwu congratulated the entire state work force and the entire staff of the Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe for their professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Dr.Anyadiegwu commended Governor Soludo for worker friendliness and commitment to the development of the college.
In a similar message, the state Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Comrade Anthony Ugozor commended the governor for considering to upgrade the pensioners monthly take home pay,the prompt payment of gratuities for new retirees and promised that the union will support the governor to actualize his second term aspiration.
The state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Chika Chukwudozie congratulated the entire state work force and the NUT for their efforts to move the state forward. Comrade Chukwudozie further appreciated Governor Soludo for practicalizig his campaign promises.
Highlights on the occasion were match pasts by the state Head of Service, Theodora Igwegbe led team of Permanent Secretaries, members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUT, NULGE, among others.
