Barr. Mimi Ifeoma Azikiwe has officially declared her intention to contest for the Onitsha North Constituency 1 seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly under the banner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

She made her declaration on June 16, during the Local Government Extended Working Committee meeting of APGA in Onitsha North Local Government Area. The event drew the presence of all 15 ward chairmen, secretaries, youth and women leaders, and was presided over by the APGA Chairman of Onitsha North, Chief Okwy Maduekwe (Prof). Also in attendance were the Mayor of Onitsha North, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, and the APGA Zonal Chairman for Anambra North Senatorial District, Chief Ojinnaka Uzoechina.

Addressing the gathering, Barr. Azikiwe delivered a passionate and purpose-driven speech outlining her commitment to responsible, transparent, and impactful representation, commending the leadership of APGA for upholding the values of internal democracy and fostering inclusivity within the party structure.

Introducing herself as more than just a legal professional, she highlighted her multifaceted background as a lawyer, cybersecurity analyst, and founder of a grassroots NGO dedicated to justice, health, and community welfare. Through her organization, she has secured the release of unlawfully detained citizens and organized free medical outreaches for underserved communities.

“My ambition is not fueled by the lure of titles, but by a sincere desire to serve deliberately and transparently. I’m stepping forward to provide result-oriented legislative representation that speaks to the real needs of our people; education, youth development, healthcare, infrastructure, economic empowerment, and support for small businesses.”

Barr. Azikiwe emphasized her intention to remain visible and accessible to her constituents, pledging consistent engagement, accountability, and active involvement in grassroots issues.

“I am not entering this race to occupy a seat. I am offering myself as a bridge between government and the people. I will not vanish after elections. I will be present, I will listen, and I will act. That is the kind of leadership our people deserve, and that is what I’m offering.”

She also applauded the developmental strides of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, whose administration she described as bold, visionary, and people-focused. She expressed her readiness to work in synergy with the governor’s efforts to reposition Anambra State.

Barr. Azikiwe’s declaration was met with warm applause and commendation from party members and stakeholders, who praised her track record and clarity of purpose.

She urged APGA leaders to prioritize competence, credibility, and community connection in choosing candidates for the upcoming party primaries, reaffirming her commitment to uphold the values and vision of the party.
