The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu has directed all units to redouble efforts to track down and apprehend the armed men responsible for the abduction and murder of Mr. Ifesinachi Onyekere, MD of Fish Magnet Outlet, in Ezinifite village, Okpuno, Awka, on July 27, 2025.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the recovery of the victim’s navy blue Toyota Corolla on Ukwulu/Igbariam road by the Joint Security Team, comprising Anambra Vigilante Operatives and police, prompted the Commissioner of Police to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
“Investigation revealed that attackers tracked the victim, leading to a violent assault involving a shooting and abduction. The victim’s subsequent discovery without life has triggered significant public concern and outrage in Awka.
“The Commissioner however condemned the killing, assuring that the perpetrators will be apprehended and brought to justice. He also emphasized that it is the police’s duty to the victim’s family, the people of Anambra, and in honour of the deceased, to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and face the full force of the law.”
