In a bid to complement Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of strengthening the educational sector in Anambra State, the Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth and academic development.

Earlier, Hon. Nwora paid a working visit to Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha, where he interacted with students and teachers participating in the ongoing annual Long Vacation Tutorial (LVT) programme.

The initiative, organized by the National Association of Onitsha Ado Students (NAOAS) in partnership with the Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe (Agbogidi), is designed to boost the academic performance of students in the community.

Addressing the students, Mayor Nwora urged them to take their studies seriously and remain committed to their future goals. He advised them to resist negative peer pressure and avoid harmful substances such as ‘Mkpulummili’ which could derail their progress in life.

He further encouraged the students to adopt discipline, hard work, and good moral values, stressing that such virtues would open doors to rewarding careers in professions like Medicine, Engineering, Teaching, and Nursing.

In a remarkable gesture of support, Hon. Nwora announced that his office would take responsibility for the payment of WAEC examination fees for the best 20 students who excel in the free lesson programme. This, he explained, was aimed at motivating participants to give their best and pursue excellence in their academics.

The session was highly interactive as students engaged the Mayor with questions and feedback, expressing their gratitude for his encouragement and benevolence.

On arrival at the venue, Mayor Nwora was warmly received by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba, who also came to lend his support to the programme.

The visit, observers noted, underscores the Mayor’s dedication to nurturing a new generation of responsible, educated, and visionary leaders in Onitsha North.
