The Medical Director, El-Dorado Multi-Specialist Hospital, Awka, Professor Chiemelu Emegoakor has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration for putting in place health reforms packages that have enhanced the life expectancy of Anambra residents.
In a press statement in Awka on some health care advances in the state, Prof Emegoakor spoke of the imperatives of the state health insurance policy which are of immense benefits to workers operating under the PAYE system of taxation and people in the private sector.
According to the medical expert, under the scheme, people receive free medicare under the primary health care in the administration of free deliveries, free caesarian sessions among others in government’s owned hospitals and subsidized health care attention on medical challenges in the secondary health care delivery in the management of hypertension, the treatment of hernia, appendicitis, etc.
He disclosed that ASHIA is operational in the El- Dorado Multi-Specialist Hospital Awka with over 1,499 registered persons benefitting from the scheme under subsidized health care services.
Prof. Emegoakor lauded the Soludo led administration for building the first ever general hospital in Enugu Otu which is a plus in taking health care delivery to the grassroot thereby reducing the high rate of infant and maternal mortalities hitherto prevalent in such remote areas.
As a surgeon with a bias in Oncology, the medical director appreciated the Healthy Living Initiative with Nonye Soludo which harps the need for people to embrace the “Ugbo Azu Uno’ philosophy which promotes investment in the intake of fruits, vegetables and other natural foods.
He advocated the frequent intake of natural foods and vegetables which are anti cancerous.
