Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a bill for a law to amend the State’s Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery into law on the floor of the State legislature.
The passage of the bill, followed the consideration of report of the House Committee on Health on an inspection visit to Alive College of Nursing Sciences Otolo Nnewi, Anambra State at the “Committee of the Whole” and the subsequent passage of the bill for its first, second and third reading before the passage into law by the entire legislators during plenary on September 23.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Pius Okoye who presided over the plenary had moved for the passage of the bill, while the lawmakers unanimously adopted it through voice votes.
According to him, I hope this reflects the true position at the ‘Committee of the Whole’.
“The House of Assembly Anambra State enacts that this law may be cited as the Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (amended No.3) Law, 2025 and shall come into force on the 6th day of October, 2025”.
The House Committee on Health chaired by Hon. Anthony Muobike had recommended that the Alive College of Nursing Sciences, Otolo Nnewi be added to the schedule of the enabling Law establishing Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Anambra State, 2025 as amended, which was adopted by the entire house.
However, the Schedule to the Principal Law was amended by adding a new school as follows: “9. Alive College of Nursing Sciences, Otolo Nnewi”.
