The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution applauding Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the successful reconstruction of roads in Inland Town, Onitsha, marking a significant step toward infrastructural renewal and inclusive urban development.

The commendation followed a motion sponsored by the member representing Onitsha North Constituency One, Honourable Mimi Azikiwe, during plenary at the State Legislative Complex, Awka.

Hon. Azikiwe described the reconstruction as a historic intervention, noting that for decades, the inland communities, the ancient heartland of Onitsha’s cultural heritage had suffered severe infrastructural decay.

She lamented that the people had long endured dilapidated and impassable roads which crippled commerce, obstructed access, and diminished quality of life.

According to her, successive administrations, despite various initiatives, had often focused development efforts on metropolitan areas, leaving indigenous settlements marginalized in the distribution of public infrastructure.

She, however, praised Governor Soludo for breaking the cycle of neglect through visionary leadership and decisive action, completing key road projects that have now restored mobility, economic vitality, and public trust in government.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who presided over the session, read the motion to the floor. It was unanimously supported by members, who lauded the governor’s commitment to equitable development across the state.
