A bus driver Mr David Okere has described the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as one of the best governors in the South East.
Mr Okere made this assertion while speaking to newsmen on the state of infrastructure in the state. He commended Governor Soludo for ensuring that the traffic lights installed across major towns in the state are still in good working condition, making smooth flow of traffic possible.
He condemned the activities of touts who station themselves at some points on the road extorting money from commercial bus drivers stressing that such acts undermine the efforts of the state government in its bid to rid the state of lawlessness.
Okere called on fellow bus drivers to resist the activities of touts in the state by ensuring that all their papers are up to date so that the touts will not have any reason to extort money from them, pointing out that it is when their papers are not complete and up to date that they fall victims to these touts.
On the level of work going on in the state, he praised Governor Soludo whom he said is a square peg in a square hole when it comes to infrastructural development in the state, saying that Soludo has proved to Ndi Anambra that certain levels of development is possible in Anambra State.
He said that the dualisation of certain roads in the state at this point in time by the Soludo led Administration is a pointer to the fact that the future of Anambra State is very bright and called on all and Sundry to support Governor Soludo as he delivers the dividend of democracy to the people.
On the new tax law, Mr Okere said that he is still confused as to how this new tax law effects bus drivers considering the current economic hardship facing the country. He called on the government to take cognisance of the current economic hardship in administration of its tax policy.
“We the commercial bus drivers are appealing to the government to help us to ensure that we still remain in our business because if the tax becomes too much on us , it means we will not be making it at the end of the day. We solicit the support of the government with this new tax law and we pledge to be law abiding.
