In alignment with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for infrastructural renewal and sustainable urban development across Anambra State, the Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, has begun the rehabilitation of the failed portions of the Opi Bridge axis along the 3-3 Federal Road, Onitsha.

The Opi Bridge section, one of the busiest routes within the Onitsha metropolis, had long posed serious challenges to motorists and commuters due to its deplorable state, resulting in daily gridlocks and damage to vehicles. Responding swiftly to these concerns, Mayor Nwora mobilized contractors to commence repair works, a move that has brought relief and excitement to residents.

During an inspection visit, the Mayor expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project, saying that about 90 per cent of the rehabilitation work has already been completed. Motorists and traders along the route hailed the Mayor and Governor Soludo for their commitment to improving road infrastructure and enhancing transportation within the state.

According to Engineers on site, the project is being executed with a durable stone base before the application of asphalt, ensuring a long-lasting and high-quality finish capable of withstanding heavy vehicular movement.

Mayor Nwora, while addressing journalists, reiterated that the ongoing rehabilitation aligns perfectly with Governor Soludo’s “Solution Agenda” aimed at transforming urban communities across Anambra.

“We are following the example set by our visionary Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who has shown that leadership is about service and impact. This rehabilitation work is not just about fixing a road; it’s about easing the suffering of our people and keeping faith with the Solution vision for a better Anambra.”

Residents and road users commended the joint efforts of the Soludo administration and the Onitsha North Local Government for their responsiveness and people-oriented governance.

“This is the kind of leadership we need, one that listens and acts. Governor Soludo and Mayor Nwora are proving that good governance is possible when leaders care about the people.”

The rehabilitation of the Opi Bridge axis is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion, boost local commerce, and improve the overall quality of life for residents — further advancing Governor Soludo’s mission to make Anambra a livable, prosperous, and smart megacity.
