The Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, has assured the members of the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC) that the ministry is fully committed to providing them with all the necessary support to enable them to discharge their duties effectively for the benefit of Anambra residents.
Engr. Chukwuemeka gave the assurance when the ASERC members paid him a courtesy visit at his office in the government house Awka.

He commended the commission for its impressive achievements within a short period of being inaugurated. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing the necessary technical and administrative support to enable the commission to hit the ground running, operate seamlessly, and fully actualize its mandate.
The Chairman and Chief Executive of the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Prof. Frank Okafor, used the opportunity to highlight key aspects of the commission’s mandate, which includes regulating the electricity market in Anambra state, issuing operational licenses, and monitoring compliance with performance standards.

Prof. Okafor said that upon discovering that four transformers responsible for supplying power to parts of Anambra State have broken down, the commission intervened by providing a 220MVA transformer. This, he noted, significantly improved power supply across the state and enhance overall supply security.
He assured residents that, in the near future, they will experience a more transparent billing system in which consumers pay strictly for the electricity they used.

He added that mechanisms are also being put in place to ensure that consumers have accessible channels to lodge complaints and receive prompt resolution.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Sir, Victor Ezekwo assured the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission that the ministry’s team is always ready to provide any information and manpower necessary to support the commission in fulfilling its mandate to the people of the state.
Speaking on behalf of other Heads of Departments present, Sir Victor expressed gratitude to the commission for visiting and wished them success in their efforts to enhance electricity supply and service delivery to Anambra residents.
The meeting featured a question and answer session and concluded with a group photograph that included members of the commission, the commissioner, permanent secretary, and other Heads of department within the ministry of power and water resources Awka.
