The Medical Director El-Dorado Multi-Specialist Hospital Awka Professor Chiemelu Emegoakor has passed a vote of confidence on the Dr. Basil Dim led Awka Zone of the Nigerian Medical Association for upholding the legendary medical advances of its forebearers in the profession.

Prof.Emegoakor in a press statement in Awka, evaluated the critical impact of this year’s physicians week which recorded an overall success beginning from the Scientific conference through other activities and culminating with a thanksgiving mass celebration at the Annunciation Catholic church Awka where the doctors rededicated themselves to their sacred Hippocratic oath of practice.

According to the medical expert, the physicians week offers the medical doctors the opportunity to discuss critical health issues and cross fertilize ideas for the promotion of health services in the society.

Further more, the week in his conviction, exposes the doctors to extra curricular activities away from their usual tight medical schedule of duties.

He spoke of the theme of the scientific conference,”Health Care As A Value Chain: Building Efficiency From Policy To Patient’,and the sub themes,”Ai, Ethics And the Physicians Role In Modern Health Care’ as apt for the promotion of health care advances in the state and beyond.

Prof.Emegoakor okayed the use of artificial intelligence in the practice of modern medicine, expecting every doctor to key into the modern trend.

According to him,one of the pitfalls of the technology is the abuse by some students who rely on the AI for everything instead of using their natural intelligence.

On the part of the government, the one time NMA award winning medical expert expects nothing short of enough political will to implement more policies that will favour impactful medical practice in the state.
