The Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okeoma, has announced that the state government has successfully completed 70 percent of the more than 850 road projects awarded under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Engr. Okeoma made the disclosure shortly after leading his team to the bilateral discussions and 2026 budget defence of the Ministry of Works before the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

According to him, the ministry has been allocated ₦352.512 billion for capital expenditure in the 2026 fiscal year, while ₦37.8 million has been earmarked for recurrent expenditure.

He described the allocation as a strategic boost that will accelerate infrastructure delivery across the state.

The commissioner said that the 2026 budget places strong emphasis on transformative projects such as the Anambra Mixed Industrial City, five-star hospitality developments, and other infrastructure designed to drive economic expansion.

He added that the ministry remains fully mobilized to sustain the momentum of road construction and urban renewal across all zones of the state.

Engr. Okeoma also said that landmark projects including the Lighthouse and Fun City have been completed and have so far attracted over 200,000 visitors, underscoring the state’s growing stature as a development-driven destination.

Addressing concerns over flooding linked to the scale of road construction, the Commissioner explained that the ministry is deploying both traditional engineering methods and advanced scientific techniques to deliver durable solutions.

He assured that once the state’s master plan is fully finalized, all flood-related challenges will be systematically resolved.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering lasting infrastructure that aligns with the governor’s vision of a livable and prosperous homeland.
