Governor Chukwuma Soludo has promised that more development will spring up in the state in line with the vision 2070, and the foundation is being laid gradually to achieve a state of our dreams – the Light of the Nation. “The Light of the Nation is rising, and we are laying the foundation for Dubai-Taiwan. Every one of us has a role to play in maintaining the momentum by keeping our surroundings clean.”

The Governor made this statement during the Christmas Carol and Praises fiesta at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, part of the Onwa Dezemba jamboree for Ndi Anambra.

He acknowledged that the state is safe and a place of enjoyment, with festivities kicking off across the state and many people coming home to have fun. “Most hotels are fully booked. This will be an Onwa Dezemba like no other because we have a lot of line-up programmes, including the performance of our illustrious son, “Flavour”, and other artists on December 30,” he said.

Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to the choirs and the various gospel artists who performed at the Christmas Carol and Praises, promising that next year’s event will be streamed live for the world to view. He also appreciated everyone for speaking loudly with their vote, which gave him victory in the last November 8 Governorship election.

“I thank the Clergymen, Traditional Rulers, members of the Executive Council, members of the Town Unions, others, for gracing this occasion. I also thank the organizers of this event for putting up an exciting event.”

In his part, the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr Don Onyenji, expressed that the event is a statement that tells the world that Anambra State is on the rise with a capable Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo. “This event also tells the story that Anambra is safe and very disposed for investment, fun, happiness, hospitality and the promotion of our culture. It has come to stay because it is already enshrined in the calendar of events of the state.
“The state is bubbling with lots of activities and festivities, and is ready to receive everybody. I advise our people in the diaspora to come home and celebrate with their kinsmen and enjoy the euphoria of Christmas, which is well packaged in our Onwa Dezemba jamboree,” he said.

He called on everyone to continue to support the good work of the Governor, saying that government is for the people and by the people.

The Christmas Carol and Praises featured performances from various choirs, musical accompaniment by the NOCEN music department, and gospel artists such as Sir Jude Nnam, Buchi, Gozie Okeke and Ada Zion.
