The Anambra State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its ongoing investigation into a child trafficking syndicate, rescuing 33 underage girls and arresting a female suspect, Ifeoma Success Anthony, 37, in a raid on a house in Awkuzu.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation followed a distress report from relatives of three abducted girls, who had been missing since September 26, 2025. The police tracked the girls to a location in Aguleri, where they discovered the 33 girls being held captive
Preliminary investigations suggest the building was used for child trafficking and prostitution, allegedly owned by Mrs. Ngozi Nnanyelugo, who is currently at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend the principal suspect, with investigations ongoing to determine the full extent of the crime and identify accomplices.
