In a bid to bolster child health amid rising concerns over vaccine-preventable diseases across Anambra West, the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Edith Nkeiru Ndive has called on parents and guardians to ensure that their children fully participate in the ongoing Measles–Rubella vaccination exercise.
The appeal came as part of a broader statewide initiative led by the Anambra State Government to immunize over two million children across the state.

She described the programme as a vital step toward safeguarding the health and future of children across the local government area.
Hon. Ndive made the appeal on January 30, during an interactive session with participants at the Measles–Rubella vaccination training held at Comprehensive healthcare center Umueze Anam.

She underscored the critical role of routine immunization in preventing the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases, noting that sustained community participation is essential to achieving improved child health outcomes and reducing avoidable childhood mortality.
“The health of our children is our collective responsibility.I urge every parent in Anambra West to ensure their eligible children receive this life-saving vaccine.
“Together, we can protect our future generations from the threats of Measles and Rubella,” she added.
The deputy mayor commended the Anambra State Government and the Ministry of Health for their continued commitment to strengthening immunization programmes for children, adding that such initiatives have significantly contributed to the decline in preventable illnesses within the state.
Reaffirming the stance of the Anambra West administration, Hon. Ndive pledged ongoing support for health-focused interventions aimed at promoting the wellbeing of residents, with particular emphasis on the protection and development of children.
