The Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, on Sunday presided over the 2026 Rogation Sunday Diocesan Homage held at All Saints’ Cathedral, as clergy, church workers, and faithful from across the Diocese gathered in thanksgiving and support of diocesan projects and evangelism.

Delivering the sermon during the service, Ven. Nicholas Okafor thanked God for another year of homage and described the occasion as a time for Christians to renew their partnership with God through service, commitment, and giving.

Speaking on the theme, “Blessed for a Purpose,” and drawing his text from Deuteronomy 8:18, the cleric reminded the congregation that God remains the source of every accomplishment in life.

According to him, whatever man achieves on earth is made possible through God’s grace and assistance, stressing that believers must continually acknowledge Him as the giver of wealth, strength, and success.
He noted that Rogation Sunday serves as a reminder that human effort alone cannot guarantee prosperity without divine help and guidance.
Ven. Okafor urged Christians to depend solely on God for increase in all their endeavours and to channel every blessing received toward causes that glorify God and benefit humanity.

He further emphasized that homage is not only about financial support for the church but also about dedicating one’s life and service to God, while encouraging the faithful to hold firmly to God’s promises.
Prayers were also offered for God’s blessings upon the Diocese, its people, and their various occupations, with supplications that their labour would prosper and not be in vain.
The service ended in an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and thanksgiving as members of the Diocese once again came together to offer homage in support of diocesan projects, missions, and the evangelization of the Gospel.
