House of Representative aspirant from Mmiata Anam, Chief Kenechukwu Offor, has praised Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, for the increase in students population in Community Secondary School Ifite Anam Mmiata as a result of the free education policy from nursery to secondary school of his government.

Chief Offor made the praise while speaking to news men at Our Lady of Lourdes College (OLLC) Mmiata Anam after donating five white boards, packets of marker and dusters to the school.

“Last month April, I chaired an Inter house sports at our Community Secondary School Ifite Anam Mmiata, and I was so surprised that they have over 600 students and over 60 staff and we have never had such population at Mmiata Anam.

“And I know very well that it is by his free education scheme that enabled it coupled with the incentives to the staff and teachers which made them to bring out their mind to teach the students well despite the bad terrain of our area. So I really commend the governor for the free education policy which made many students to come out and start going to school.

He also commended the governor for his plans to site a smart school in Anambra West

Chief Offor said that his donating the five white boards was one of his ways of supporting education in Anambra East and West.

“I have gone round the two Local Governments- Anambra East and West and found out that our terrain is not good although our governor has done well but I will bring the presence of federal government to do more. At least we need one unity school because there is no one across Anambra East and West.

“So that is why when the principal of this school called me I did not hesitate to provide the white boards and markers to the school. And I will continue to support them with materials they need for proper education,” he said.”

He added that despite not being in the same party with Governor Soludo, that he was satisfied with what he is doing in education sector across Anambra State.

Receiving the items, the Principal of the school, Rev. Sr. Eucharia Mary Ezeiruoma, thanked Chief Offor for the gesture.

“I am so happy to receive this wonderful gifts of five tear rubber white boards provided for us by Hon Kenechukwu Offor, a philanthropist, a man that has a good heart for sons and daughters of Mmiata Anam.

“The white boards we had were destroyed by flood, then, we started using walls as black boards. I am so happy that we will no longer be covered with chalk dust again when writing on the board.

Teachers and students in the school also confirmed that they needed the white board.

At the handing over ceremony, Chief Offor was accompanied by the Chairman of Education Committee, Mmiata Anam Development Union (MADU), Chief Chikeluo Mbanefo, Chief Raphael Chigbata, and Chief Augustine Chinwuba.

Highlights of the occasion was the handing over of the new white boards and it’s accessories to the principal, teachers and students of OLLC, Mmiata Anam.
