The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has reaffirmed the critical role of primary healthcare in disease prevention, health promotion, maternal and child healthcare, immunization, nutrition and community health education.

Dr. Soludo made the assertion during the Local Government Area (LGA) Primary Healthcare (PHC) Leadership Challenge Awards and Recognition Ceremony held on June 17, at the Banquet Hall, Lighthouse, Awka.

According to her, primary healthcare remains the foundation of a healthy society, which is why she has continued to complement government efforts through strategic interventions and partnerships that promote healthy living, support women and children, strengthen nutrition awareness, encouraging preventive healthcare practices.

She noted that under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra State has recorded significant progress in primary healthcare delivery through sustained investments in health infrastructure, modern equipment, healthcare workforce development, upgrading of primary health centres, improved access to essential medicines and strengthened maternal/child health services.

Across our communities, residents are increasingly enjoying improved access to quality healthcare services, reflecting government’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind,” she said.

Speaking further, the founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative emphasized the need for greater public awareness of the importance of a strong primary healthcare system in improving the wellbeing of families and communities.

She called for sustained collaboration among government agencies, healthcare workers, development partners, community leaders and citizens to strengthen the state’s healthcare system, improving health outcomes.
