The Executive Mayor of Anambra West Local Government Area, Edith Nkeiru Ndive, has called on the contracting firm handling the Nzam–Odetamoka Bridge Extension Project to speed up construction while strictly adhering to approved engineering standards and quality specifications.
She made the appeal on June 8, during an on-site inspection of the project at Nzam, where she assessed the level of progress achieved so far.
Speaking during the visit, the mayor described the bridge extension as a key infrastructure project under her administration’s development agenda, designed to improve transportation, strengthen connectivity and boost economic activities across Nzam, adjoining communities in Olumbanasa Wards I and II.

She emphasized that the delivery of durable and sustainable infrastructure remains a priority for her government, stressing that all public works must meet established standards to ensure long-term value for residents.
“The people of Anambra West deserve quality infrastructure. We are committed to ensuring that this project is completed on schedule and in line with the highest standards. I urge the contractor to intensify efforts while maintaining quality workmanship throughout the construction process,” she said.
The mayor expressed satisfaction with the current stage of work, while reiterating the need for sustained momentum to ensure timely completion of the project.

She also reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to people-centered development initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of residents across the Local Government Area(LGA).
According to her, strategic investment in infrastructure remains essential to unlocking the economic potential of Anambra West and improving livelihoods.
The Nzam–Odetamoka Bridge Extension Project, upon completion, is expected to enhance access within the area, ease the movement of goods and services, strengthen inter-community ties and contribute significantly to local economic growth.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the Anambra West Local Government Administration to expand and modernize infrastructure in line with the vision of the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, for sustainable and inclusive development.
