The Director of Community Health Services, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Dr Ngozi Okeke has explained that the Primary Healthcare (PHC) Leadership challenge award and recognition activity is an evidence-based decision making process which entails need for proper documentation of one’s activities.
Dr Okeke said this while speaking to news men at the Local Government Area (LGA) PHC Leadership Challenge award and recognition ceremony held on June 17, at the Banquet Hall, Light House Awka, Anambra capital’s City.
She noted that the PHC Leadership Challenge Initiative serves as a valuable platform for motivating health workers, stakeholders, and communities to intensify their efforts towards strengthening the primary healthcare system and improving health outcomes at the grassroots level.
She as well stated that while the PHC Leadership Challenge Recognition Ceremony honours and rewards individuals, stakeholders, and communities with awards and monetary incentives for their outstanding contributions to the health sector, there are also many others whose efforts may be equally significant or even greater. Added, due to inadequate documentation of their activities and achievements, such individuals may not receive the recognition they deserve.
The director explained that the outcomes and performance targets assessed under the PHC Leadership Challenge Initiative are derived from documented evidence, as the programme is based on an evidence-driven evaluation process.
She congratulated all the award beneficiaries for their dedication to strengthening healthcare delivery. She further urged health workers at both the state and primary healthcare levels to cultivate a culture of proper documentation, stressing that accurate data and records are essential for measuring performance, demonstrating impact, and showcasing achievements within the health sector.
