For many years, inadequate infrastructure posed significant challenges to Anambra State’s socio-economic development. Poor road networks, persistent flooding, erosion, traffic congestion, and limited access to rural communities affected commercial activities, restricted movement, and reduced the quality of life for many residents.
Since assuming office in 2022, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, has placed infrastructure development at the heart of his administration’s agenda, with the goal of building a more connected, prosperous, and livable state.

Several major road projects have been completed to improve connectivity across the state. The Isuaniocha–Urum–Amanuke–Achalla Road has enhanced access to communities in Awka North, while the Amansea–Ndiukwuenu–Awka–Ufuma Road has strengthened transportation links in Orumba North, creating better opportunities for farmers, traders, commuters, and businesses.

The completion of the Nza–Ozubulu–Ukpor Road has also provided long-awaited relief to residents after years of deterioration. Across major urban centres, including Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, Ekwulobia, Ogbaru, and several rural communities, improved road networks have enhanced access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial hubs.

The construction of the Trans-Nkisi Boulevard has helped ease traffic congestion in Onitsha, while ongoing urban renewal initiatives are transforming the appearance and functionality of many communities. In Awka, the new Government House complex and Solution Fun City have added to the city’s administrative and recreational infrastructure.

Communities such as Okpoko in Ogbaru have also benefited from road construction and upgraded public facilities, improving the environment and restoring residents’ confidence. These infrastructure projects have contributed to lower transportation costs, increased commercial activities, attracted investments, and improved access to essential public services.

While work continues on several other projects across the state, the administration’s infrastructure programme has significantly altered Anambra’s physical landscape, creating new opportunities for economic development and strengthening community connectivity.
For many Ndi Anambra, improved road networks, shorter travel times, easier access to essential services, and expanded economic opportunities reflect the growing impact of strategic infrastructure investments on everyday life and the state’s long-term development.
