The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, and former Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Stella Oduah, on June 18, have visited Comprehensive Medical Centre (CMC) Awkuzu, to assess the condition of the 10-year-old boy who was allegedly subjected to severe abuse by his guardians.

The visit was aimed at expressing solidarity with the victim and ensuring that he receives adequate medical care, protection, and justice. The lawmakers condemned the incident, describing child abuse and neglect as unacceptable and a threat to the well being of children in society.

Speaking during the visit, Rt. Hon. Udeze assured the public that the Anambra State Government and relevant authorities would closely monitor the case to ensure that justice is served. He stressed the need for collective action in safeguarding the rights and welfare of children across the state.

Senator Stella Oduah commended the medical personnel caring for the child and urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant in protecting children from abuse, exploitation, and other forms of violence.

The delegation also met with the hospital management and medical team to receive updates on the boy’s health condition. They expressed optimism that, with proper medical attention and support, the young victim would make a full recovery.

The case has continued to attract widespread public attention, with government officials, humanitarian organizations, and concerned citizens calling for the swift prosecution of those responsible for the abuse.

The visit underscores the commitment of Anambra State leaders to promoting child protection, upholding justice, and advancing the welfare of vulnerable members of society.
