The Anambra State Government has commenced remedial work on the rain damaged section of Izuchukwu Junction in Nnewi North Local Government Area(LGA), following recent heavy rainfall that affected the road.
The intervention comes in response to concerns raised by motorists, traders and residents over the deteriorating condition of the junction, where potholes and erosion had disrupted the free flow of traffic and posed a threat to commercial activities.
Officials of the Anambra State Ministry of Works, in collaboration with engineers from the Nnewi North LGA, visited the site to assess the extent of the damage and begin immediate palliative repairs.
The repair work, which commenced on June 25, is ongoing, expecting to restore safe and smooth vehicular movement while plans for a permanent rehabilitation of the affected section are being finalized.

The Mayor of Nnewi North LGS, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, commended the Anambra State Government for its prompt intervention, describing the response as timely, reassuring to residents and road users.
He expressed confidence that the repairs would improve traffic flow, enhance road safety and protect businesses operating around the busy junction.
Residents have also been advised to support the ongoing work by cooperating with the construction team, refraining from dumping refuse into drainage channels, noting that blocked drains contribute significantly to flooding and road deterioration during the rainy season.
