The Anambra State Ministry of Information and Value Reformation has pledged to support and partner with the Soludozie Anambra Volunteers and Ambassadors Network (SAVAN) to deepen grassroots participation in development and drive Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s value reformation agenda.

The Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor, gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving members of the non-profit organisation on a courtesy visit to the ministry in Awka.

Dr Mefor commended the group for its commitment to grassroots development through volunteerism, community engagement and public enlightenment, adding that the formation of the group aligns with the government’s public-private-community partnership (PPCP) policy since the government can’t do it alone.

According to him, the Solution Government, led by Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, believes in building infrastructure as well as self-values and responsibility so that sane people will live and enjoy the facilities he is putting in place.

He explained that the essence of adding value reformation to the ministry’s job is to sanitise the people around, adding that volunteerism is key to achieving that.

While commending the group for already reaching out to 46 communities in Anambra, the commissioner said the ministry would introduce the group to ASTUC, the body of presidents-general that spans the 21 LGAs. “This initiative will help facilitate your permeation into communities and expand your grassroots reach and impact,” he explained.

He also urged the group to submit its operational manual to the ministry for appraisal, even as he happily accepted the role of the group’s patron.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Obiageli Uchebo, commended members of the group for the initiative, adding that the job ahead requires all hands to be on deck.

Earlier, the founder/coordinator of the network, Maazi Okechukwu Cyril Nwuche, said the Soludozie Anambra Volunteers and Ambassadors Network was established to maximise support for the Solution Government’s agenda of making Anambra the pride of Igbo land and a prosperous homeland.
