The Department of Theology, UNINIGER, Umunya, in affiliation with St. Paul’s Theological College, Awka, has conducted another edition of its Liturgical Services Practicum Examination for postulants.

The examination, held on July 11 at Bethany Chapel, Diocesan Church Centre (DCC), Onitsha, formed part of the students’ ministerial formation, providing an opportunity for them to demonstrate their knowledge and practical application of Anglican liturgical services in preparation for ordained ministry.

Addressing the postulants before the commencement of the examination, the Rector of the Diocesan Church Centre and lecturer in the Department of Theology, Ven. Dr. Izuchukwu Obiekwe, welcomed the students and prayed for God’s guidance throughout the exercise.

Dr. Obiekwe, who also serves as the Director of Spiritual Formation, urged the postulants to approach the examination with confidence, reverence and a deep sense of responsibility, reminding them that Anglican liturgy is sacred and should always be celebrated with dignity and devotion.

He encouraged them to remain faithful to God’s calling, stressing that ministers are entrusted with the stewardship of God’s mysteries and must uphold the teachings, doctrines and traditions of the church with integrity.

The practical examination was supervised by a team of senior clergy from the Diocese, who served as invigilators and assessed the students’ performance in various aspects of Anglican liturgical practice.

At the end of the exercise, the invigilators expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination, commending  the postulants for their discipline, preparedness and commitment throughout the practical session.

They encouraged the students to remain steadfast in their spiritual and academic formation, emphasizing that effective ministry requires humility, obedience, sound knowledge of God’s Word, faithful administration of the Sacraments and selfless service to God’s people.

The Liturgical Services Practicum Examination remains an integral part of the theological training at UNINIGER, equipping future ministers with the practical skills, spiritual discipline and pastoral competence required for effective ministry in the Anglican Communion.
