Dr. Chiazor Anyachebelu, a medical consultant at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, has urged women to undergo medical check ups at least twice a year to facilitate early detection and treatment of health conditions.

Anyachebelu gave the advice on Aug. 14 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, Oraukwu, during the 2026 August Women’s Meeting.

Speaking on the theme, “Organ Failure,” she expressed concern over the rising cases of kidney and liver failure in the society, noting that the conditions affected both young and older people.

She urged women to take their health seriously by undergoing regular medical examinations and encouraging their family members to do the same.

The consultant also advised them to avoid unhealthy lifestyles, including excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and prolonged physical inactivity.

Anyachebelu said metabolic disorders and other conditions that could lead to organ failure might result in serious complications and disabilities if not detected and managed early.

She stressed the importance of prevention and early medical intervention, noting that timely detection could improve treatment outcomes.

The medical consultant further advised women to maintain a balanced diet, engage in regular physical exercise, manage their weight and stress, and undergo routine medical check-ups to maintain good health and overall wellbeing.
