The Executive Mayor of Anambra West Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs.) Edith Nkeiru Ndive, has inspected a flood-damaged section of the Ngene Okwuazu area along the Umueri–Umueze Anam Road following concerns over the deteriorating condition of the road.
The inspection, conducted on Sept. 23, was aimed at assessing the extent of the damage and taking immediate steps to safeguard motorists, pedestrians and other road users.

During the inspection, Mayor Ndive noted that the affected route serves as an important gateway into Anambra West, making its condition significant to residents, commuters and motorists who use the road daily.

She directed officials to install reflective ropes around the damaged section as an immediate warning measure to alert road users and improve visibility, particularly for motorists travelling through the area at night or in low-light conditions.

The mayor expressed concern over the state of the road and said she would engage relevant authorities on the need for urgent intervention to address the damage and restore safe passage along the route.

She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property while responding promptly to infrastructure and other challenges affecting communities across Anambra West. The temporary safety measures will remain in place pending further intervention and repairs to the affected portion of the road.
