With few days to the September, ‘Mber’ month, the Deputy Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council and Chairman, Anambra North Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe (Prof) Benjamin Okeji has urged Anambra residents to be circumspect to avoid being ugly victims of the expectations to meet up in the coming Mber months spanning September to December.
Igwe Okeji doubling as the Traditional Ruler of Omasi in a press statement in Awka on the months of high expectations, hustlings and temptations, warned against reckless and unwholesome behaviors, frivolous lifestyles, overzealousness and other vices which can undermine good intentions and productivity.
The royal father holding the position of the State Chairman, Southern Traditional Rulers Council regretted that because of ignorance and paucity of awareness, lives have been lost in the past to the get-rich -quick syndrome exhibited by some people during the Mber months period.
He called for the prudent management of resources by authorities that be and individuals to finish the year in success.
The royal father called for security consciousness to support the security initiatives of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to achieve his policy of making Anambra State a liveable and prosperous homeland and a destination place.
Igwe Okeji used the forum to salute all the traditional rulers in the state who have celebrated their new yam festival and those yet to celebrate theirs and urged the citizenry to take advantage of such celebrations to appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the Igbos.
He called for the promotion of the Igbo Language and culture and the introduction of more programmes in the new yam festival to promote the Igbo cultural heritage.
The traditional ruler further used the occasion to announce that his Ofala festival slated for the 30th of December this year at Omasi, will unleash the rich cultural heritage of the Omasi people.
He appreciated the attention given to the development of the Anambra North Senatorial Zone by Governor Soludo which should not be swept under the carpet by residents in the area.
