Heads of state-owned hospitals in Anambra State have thrown their weight behind Governor Chukwuma Soludo, commending his groundbreaking achievements in the healthcare sector and calling for continued support of his administration.
The commendation came during a strategic meeting convened at the State Hospital Management Board (SHMB) Conference Hall, Enugwu-Ukwu, and chaired by the State Hospital Administrator (HA), Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Ifeanaeme praised the Soludo-led administration for its far-reaching reforms, especially the introduction of completely free maternal healthcare services, which include antenatal care, delivery, cesarean sections, and laboratory tests in all government hospitals regardless of the patient’s state of origin.
He also noted the massive recruitment of healthcare professionals into the state civil service, ensuring that residents across rural and urban communities can access quality care closer to home.
“Infrastructure-wise, this government has built new hospitals and is actively renovating existing ones to modern standards,” Dr. Ifeanaeme noted.
One of the most notable highlights of the meeting was the acknowledgment of the full implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS), with many health workers already receiving robust salaries which has boosted morale across the state’s healthcare workforce.
In a further directive, Dr. Ifeanaeme charged all health workers to be present at their duty posts, provide timely and compassionate care to patients, and ensure that hospital environments remain clean and infection-free.
“A clean hospital environment is essential for delivering high-quality care, preventing infections, and ensuring the comfort and confidence of patients and their families. Regular cleaning and disinfection help protect not just patients, but staff and visitor,’’ he said.
Doctors in charge of General Hospitals in Ichi and Umueri expressed their admiration for the governor’s commitment to healthcare delivery, saying that his performance qualifies him for a second term in office.
The meeting ended with renewed enthusiasm among hospital heads, who pledged their support for sustaining the reforms and maintaining the high standards already set by the current administration.
