The Primary and Post Primary Schools in Anambra State have resumed the second term 2025/2026 academic session in earnest after the Christmas and the new year celebrations.
At the St. John of God Secondary School Awka, the Manager of the college Rev. Fr. Malachy Maduewesi reported that the institution commenced the session with a management/staff meeting on January 9, followed by the return to the school hostel by students and the resumption of academic activities on January 12.
According to the manager, resumption tests were programmed to be held on January 13.
Fr. Maduewesi okayed the appreciable staff/students strength on the school resumption day and expects unfettered dedication to duties and studies by staff and students.
The manager announced that some lined up activities by the school in the academic session include cultural fiesta, inter house sports competition, Awka Diocesan quiz, others.
At the National Secondary School Awka, school activities resumed in earnest on Monday with teachers and students showing appreciable presence and the school compound cleared for the commencement of the academic session.
According to the school Principal Dr Ngozi Anagor in a press statement, the school held a staff meeting to deliberate on the way forward for the academic session.
She urged teachers to sustain their passion for teaching not minding the challenges and pressure to update their knowledge.
Dr. Anagor further encouraged students not to perceive education as a scam but to strive hard to make it in life through acquired knowledge.
The Principal called for an upward review in the nation’s education budget, and for government to adjust the school curricula to suit the nation’s academic environment.
In a similar vein, the press visited Igwebuike Grammar school Awka where the Principal of the college Mrs. Amaka Ifebili, spoke through the school’s Vice Principal Mrs. Eucharia Adizue who okayed the availability of the teachers and students on the day of the school’s resumption and the conduction of resumption tests for the students.
At the Community Secondary School Umuokpu, Awka, the Principal Mrs. Gloria Aratoke expressed delight in the teachers/students appreciable presence on the day of the school’s resumption.
Mrs. Aratoke confirmed that resumption tests were conducted for students on January 13.
