The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has been honoured with the distinguished title of “King of Environment” by the Anambra State Command of the Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS) in recognition of his contributions to environmental management and sustainability in the state.
The award was presented on June 9, during a courtesy visit by the State Commander of the Nigerian Forest Security Service, Mr. Destiny Emmanuel Jonas, and members of his team to the commissioner’s office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Jonas described the honour as a gesture of appreciation for the commissioner’s commitment to environmental management and his visible impact across Anambra State.
According to him, Dr. Aguiyi’s efforts have played a significant role in strengthening public awareness of forest conservation and the fight against environmental abuse.
“The commissioner’s dedication and consistency have greatly contributed to advancing environmental consciousness and encouraging responsible practices among residents,” he said.

The state commander explained that the title “King of Environment” symbolizes exceptional leadership and influence in championing environmental advocacy and enforcement.
He noted that the recognition also reflects the growing partnership between environmental authorities and security agencies in addressing challenges such as illegal logging, indiscriminate waste disposal and other forms of environmental degradation.
Responding after receiving the award, Dr. Aguiyi expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Forest Security Service for the recognition, describing it as both humbling and inspiring.
He emphasized the need for continued collaboration among government agencies, security organizations, communities and residents to safeguard the environment.
The commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the Anambra State Government to sustaining ongoing reforms and implementing policies aimed at creating a cleaner, healthier and more resilient environment for present and future generations.
He called on residents to support environmental initiatives, stressing that lasting progress can only be achieved through collective action.
The event concluded with the Ministry of Environment and the Nigerian Forest Security Service pledging to deepen their collaboration in combating environmental infractions and promoting sustainable development across Anambra State.
